Poarch beats Greenlawn

The Poarch Tomahawks opened up the Babe Ruth baseball season with an impressive 12-8 victory over Greenlawn Home Care Monday night at Tom Byrne Park.

Poarch opened the game strong scoring eight runs in the top of the first as Quentin Smedley, Kevin Vaughn, Chance Jackson, Hunter Rigby, Justin Davis, Kyler McGlothern and Harold Harrison all crossed the plate.

Greenlawn could only respond with one run in the bottom of the inning with Brett Helton cutting the Tomahawks’ lead to seven runs.

The Tomahawks extended their lead to nine in the top of the second as Jakcon and Davis scored their second runs of the game putting Poarch ahead 10-1.

Poarch continued to dominate in the top of the third with Vaughn and Gage White scoring putting the Tomahawks on top 12-1.

Greenlawn finally got their bats going in the bottom of the third as they scored six runs with Helton, D’man McCarthy, Nate Smith, Dalton Daniels, Brodie Amos and Jonanthan Griffis all crossing the plate.

The Tomahawks held off any comeback attempts in the final inning as they only gave up one run with Smith scoring ending the game 12-8.

Atmore Utlities 15

PCI 2

Tristan McAnally and Bo Bishop led Atmore Utilities Board to a 15-2 win over the Poarch Creek Indians Monday night opening night for Babe Ruth baseball.

McAnally and Bishop led the Utlities Board with thre runs each in the win.

Leading PCI were Casey Jackson and Dakota Barlow scoring one run each in the loss.
