ATMORE – Carolyn Ulynn Hetzel, 75, of Atmore died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 in Atmore.

She was a homemaker, born in Escambia County, Ala. on Aug. 15, 1935 to the late Wilson Leroy and Annie Lenora Luker Sasser.

Her husband, Melvin Doyle Hetzel Sr.; daughter, Patricia Ulynn Hetzel; brothers, Edward L. Sasser and Max F. Sasser and a sister, Evelyn Dillree, preceded her in death.

Survivors include, three sons, Melvin Doyle Hetzel Jr. and wife, Anne, of Atmore, Gary Allen Hetzel of Birmingham and daughter-in-law, Pat Hetzel, of Atmore and Matthew Ivan Hetzel and wife, Susan, of Jackson, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Melanie Anne Hetzel, Alexander Ian Hetzel, Amanda Erin Hetzel, Benjamin Allen Hetzel, Nora Elizabeth Hetzel, Ellie Frances Hetzel and Lauralee Ann Hetzel; four sisters, Marie Bryant and Eunice Reynolds of Mobile and Patsy Richardson and Joyce Brown and husband, E.D., both all of Atmore.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 from the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Reece, the Rev. Diane Everette and the Rev. Mark Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, Sept. 2, 2010 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
