One injured in midday wreck

One person was injured Tuesday morning following a two-car collision on Highway 31.

One man was injured following a two-car wreck at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 31 just east of Atmore.

William Brian Whitson, 39, of Mobile, was taken to Atmore Community Hospital after his 2010 Ford Escape was hit from behind by a 2000 GMC Z71 driven by Kevin Lee Watson, of Atmore.

Jody White was ahead of both vehicles traveling east when she said it looked as if Whitson attempted to make an abrupt right turn off of the highway.

According to White it appeared Watson swerved right as well in order to avoid entering on-coming traffic, and collided with Whitson’s vehicle.

Watson was uninjured during the collision.

Alabama State Trooper Tracy Morgan in investigating the wreck.

Officers with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department, the Atmore Police Department and the Flomaton Police Department responded to the scene.
