Mr. and Mrs. Lester Aubrey Smith Jr. of Valley Grande announce the engagement of their daughter Rachel Ashton Smith to Andrew Tyler Wilkins.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Lee Wilkins of Atmore.

Miss Smith is the granddaughter of Mrs. Evelyn McQueen Smith of Eclectic and the late Mr. Lester Aubrey Smith and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Alston Griffith of Demopolis.

She is a 2005 graduate of Meadowview Christian School. She attended the University of Alabama and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition. In December of 2010 she received a Master’s degree in Health Promotion from Auburn University. Miss Smith is currently employed as a clinical dietitian at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Wilkins of Huxford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas Melton of Atmore.

Mr. Wilkins is a 2005 graduate of Escambia Academy. He attended Troy University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. While at Troy University he affiliated with Sigma Chi social fraternity. In May of 2011 he received a Master’s degree in Health Promotion and sports Medicine from Virginia Tech. Mr. Wilkins is presently employed as an athletic trainer for the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla.

The wedding will take place Nov. 19, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Church Street United Methodist in Selma.
