Family and Friends gathered together at Huxford Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. to honor Voncile Lassitter of McCullough Road in a surprise celebration for her 90th birthday, which took place Nov. 30.

She was born in 1921 to Bessie and Levy Bryant of Atmore. She was married to John Lassitter of McCullough for 69 years.

She has two children: A daughter Joyce Woolley and her husband Alan, of Newton, Miss., and a son Benford “Benny” Lassitter and wife Gail of Wade, Miss. She has four grandchildren: Eileen Foster and husband Rick; John Woolley and fiancée Lynne Weaver; Jason Lassitter and wife Dawn and Amy St. Pe and husband Laurin; five great grandchildren: Caleb and Mallory Lassitter and Abby, Ella and Caroline St. Pe. The beautiful reception was decorated and catered by Edna Tolbert and Brenda Coker of Huxford.
