Plans to open two new businesses at Rivercane in 2012 were announced during Thursday’s regular Industrial Development Board meeting.

Atmore’s new Hampton Inn will officially be open for business in late March and a new fast food location on the property has been approved according to Rivercane Project Manager Joe Webb.

Webb said the identity of the new fast food business will not be revealed until a payment has been officially made to the city, but added the deal is scheduled to close in March. Construction on the project has been approved to begin in October with a tentative completion date in December on a lot adjacent to the current McDonald’s location.

In other business the IDB officially welcomed new board member Ricky Martin, manager of Atmore’s Alabama Power branch. Martin replaces long time board member, and former APCO manager, Peggie Byrd.
