Mary Elizabeth Turner Vinson, age 75, passed away on March 29, 2012 in Atmore.

She was a lifelong resident of the Robinsonville community, near Atmore, born on Feb. 10, 1937 in Bratt, Fla. to the late Clint Hill and

Edna Earl Moye Turner. A member of Robinsonville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School classes for children, youth, and adults.

She was a graduate of Troy State College  and worked as a teacher in both public and private school.  She was primarily a homemaker, but she was involved as a volunteer with several local organizations, including serving as a poll official at Canoe; volunteering with the

Escambia Baptist Association; serving as secretary for the Escambia County Senior Adult Council; serving on the Escambia County Library Board; and working as a fund-raiser for the establishment of the Atmore Medical Park facilities.

She is survived by her husband, Jim C. Vinson; three children, Keith (Miriam) Vinson of Birmingham; Lynn (Kevin) Raybon of Montevallo; and Lori Nesmith of Robinsonville; and four grandchildren, Jennifer (Lee) Craft and Caroline Vinson of Birmingham; Jessica

Nesmith and Garrett Nesmith of Robinsonville.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Keese officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the “Rockette” Sunday School class of Robinsonville Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 one hour prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to the Sardis  Baptist Church or Robinsonville Baptist Church Perpetual Cemetery Funds; Alabama Baptist Children’s Home; Covenant Hospice; or a charity of your choice.
