Fidelis defeats Rotary Tigers

Zach Wright and Blaine Miller scored two runs each for the Fidelis Wildcats in 12-year-old Cal Ripken Baseball action Friday at Tom Byrne Park in Atmore.

Wright and Miller scored their runs in the final two innings to help Fidelis defeat the Atmore Rotary Club Tigers 10-9.

The Wildcats earned the win in a late-game surge with seven runs being scored in the final two innings.

Trailing 7-3 moving into the top of the fourth, the Wildcats pushed four runs on the scoreboard courtesy of Wright, Miller, Dylan Wayland and Matthew Taylor.

Fideils took the lead in the top of the fifth with Micah Sutton, Wright and Miller making the score 10-7.

The Tigers attempted to come away with the win in the final inning, but fell short with only Charlie Gandy and Jamaya Frye scoring in the inning to fall 10-9.

The Tigers earlier runs came from Kuron Frye, Cadarius Smith, Gandy, Jabe Dawe, Sam Martin and Josh Booker.

Poarch fought off a 6-4 deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning of their contest with the Jay Royals to earn a 7-6 win last Friday at Tom Byrne Park.

Poarch took the lead first in the bottom of the second inning with Justin Pearson, Thunder Jackson, Jaylon Daughtry and Asa Lane scoring to put them out in front 4-0.

The Royals opened up their offense in the top of the third inning and came away with six runs to hold a two-run lead.

Poarch would fight back in the bottom of the inning with Bailey, Pearson and Jackson  adding the runs that would lead to the victory.

With a three up and three down inning, Poarch came away the victors     7-6.
