Stabbing suspect nabbed by APDPublished 12:33pm Saturday, June 2, 2012
A stabbing incident late Thursday night left an Atmore woman wounded and her son in jail on domestic violence charges.
Dayshawn Dixon, 27, of Atmore was arrested after officers with Atmore Police Department responded to a stabbing call at approximately 11:34 p.m. on East 4th Street.
According to an APD release, officers learned from witness statements that Dixon became upset with his mother, 46-year-old Kimberly Dixon, after she refused to give him $200 from his Social Security check. Witnesses said Dixon removed a knife from the kitchen and began attacking his mother, stabbing her once in the upper left side of her chest.
The victim was taken by a private vehicle to Atmore Community Hospital, where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
Dixon was charged with domestic violence in the first degree and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
As of press time Friday Dixon remained in the detention center awaiting a bond hearing.
