An Atmore Utilities Board Flame takes a swing during the last regular season softball game of the summer.

The Rowland’s Tires Renegades notched one last victory Thursday night at Tom Byrne Park to close out regular season play for the 10 through 12-year-old softball division, defeating the Atmore Utilities Board Flames 13-5.

Both teams came out swinging in the first inning as the Renegades got on the board with three runs, working off the momentum of Ashley Bishop’s opening score. For the Flames, Olivia Simmons got things started with a run, followed by more first inning scores from Anna Lisa Boatwright and Abby Smith to tie things up at 3.

The Flames found more success in the second inning with a second score from Simmons, as well as a run from Allison Rice, but their offensive success would not be enough to fight off the Renegades, who crossed home plate 10 times in the second inning, beginning with a second run of the game for Bishop. After batting around once, two late inning scores put the game away for the Renegades, giving them a strong win to end the regular season.
