Headed to state

The Atmore 8U All-Stars are preparing this week to head to Mobile Saturday for the 2012 state tournament held at Mims Park in Cottage Hill.

Atmore will be joined from the area by the Tri-County All-Stars, who defeated them by one point in the district championship in Walnut Hill, Fla. Atmore defeated the Nothwest Escambia All-Stars twice in that tournament in order to qualify to reach the state level.

Atmore will be grouped into Pool A for the tournament, along side All-Star teams from Andalusia, Mims an Sumter County. Pool B will consist of Alexander City, Florence, Semmes and Southern; Pool C will have Demopolis, Matthews, Monrovia and Tri-County; Pool D will feature Coosa, Opp, Sylacauga and Theodore.

Atmore will get started Saturday at 10 a.m. on field d, taking on Sumter County. Sunday Atmore will battle Andalusia on field b at 9 a.m.
Monday, first and second seeds will battle throughout the day culminating with the state 8U championship game Tuesday at 10 a.m. on field b.

Memebers of the 2012 8U Atmore All-Stars are Talan Daughter (No. 2, second base), Gavin Snow (No. 3, pitcher),  Chaston Helton (No.15, short stop), Chasen Wynn (No. 6, right centerfield), Caeden Battles (No. 5, catcher), Caleb Davis (No. 9, first base), Josh Burkett (No. 14, third base), Anthony McCants (No. 12), Aron Chavira (No. 11, left field), Kanye Hooks (No. 7, left centerfield), Na’Davion Steele (No. 8 ) and Ty’Darrian Pettway, (No. 10, right field).
