New Edition coming to Wind Creek Casino and HotelPublished 7:24am Tuesday, June 19, 2012
Wind Creek Casino will welcome New Edition to the stage at the amphitheater on July 28, 2012 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the event are now on sale at Essentials Sundry Shoppe.
This group will bring to the stage their special R&B music which has sustained them for more than 30 years. They led the way for “boy bands” everywhere to follow. Some of their hits were “Candy Girl,” “Cool it Now” and “Mr. Telephone Man.”
With the reunion of the original members in 2011, it promises to be quite a night at the amphitheater. Expected to perform are Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill.
“We are very excited that they will be here,” said Lynn Woodcock, at PCI. “People have been asking us to get them to come and we are glad to say that they will finally be here on July 28.”
New Edition formed in 1978, but reached the apex of their popularity in the mid 1980s.
After Brown departed the band in 1985 and formed a successful solo career, the six original members reunited in 1996 and released the album “Home Again.”
Brown was expected to miss shows earlier this year due to the death of his ex-wife Whitney Houston, but has since returned to the stage. New Edition will hit the stage in Atmore at 7 p.m.
