GECA to unveil ‘Revival’

The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts is gearing up for another play written by Atmore resident Gene Embry.

Beginning Friday, at 7 p.m. at the GECA building on Trammell Street, “The Revival,” a musical featuring a wide array of gospel songs, will be perfomed by the local cast of actors.

“The Revival” centers around a church choir rehearsal and will be performed by the GECA cast again Saturday night at 7 p.m., as well as Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Performances will also be held Friday and Saturday night, Oct. 5 and 6 at 7 p.m., as well as Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m.

Cast members for Embry’s latest offering include Phil Johnson as Bro. Henry, Gilda Stubben as Dorene, Katherine Moore as Becky Ruth, Jo Downing as Maggie Sue, Sharon Poulsen as Phyllis, Wanetta McGinty as Miss Bertha, Brandon Coburn as Zeak, Martin Wilson as Duke, Doug Coburn as Lester, Myrna Monroe, Linda Mills, Gretchen McPherson, Charlotte Purvis, Gene Reynolds, Dan Johnson and David Allen as the Chorus, Tom Jeter as James, Eddie Seales as Mr. Oscar, Priscilla Eby as Miss Stella, Shannon Doremus as Betsy Mae Fuller, author Gene Embry as Reverend Bean, Patty Castleberry as Lucille, Melissa Seales as Mary Jane and Miranda Wilson as Miss Lynette.
