Waffle House opens doors

Earlier this year officials with Waffle House and the City of Atmore came to a deal that made the breakfast chain the sixth official member of the Rivercane development property, and Monday afternoon the restaurant officially opened its doors for business.

Waffle House Regional Manager Michael S. Flynn said he oversees stores in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi, but has family in the Atmore area and is excited about the new store location.

“Seems like for years when I’ve talked to people from around here they’ve been asking me ‘when are you guys going to open a Waffle House in Atmore?’ so I’m excited to be here,” Flynn said.

Atmore Mayor Howard Shell officially welcomed employees of the newly opened store following a ribbon cutting held Monday afternoon when they opened for business at 2 p.m.

“We are very glad to have you as a part of our town,” Shell said. “We hope you will be very successful here.”

Waffle House will operate 24 hours a day.
