The Escambia Academy boys basketball team employed a stifling full-court defense that set the tone in their 77-35 blowout win over Marengo Academy in Canoe Thursday night.

Head coach Kevin Woods said the team has been focusing heavily on defense in practice.

“That’s one thing we’ve tried to stress,” Woods said. “We want to contest everything. That’s what I try to stress at practice. If we can do it at practice, it’ll carry over into the games.”
