‘Armed and dangerous’ suspect apprehended

An Atmore man wanted for armed robbery and considered “armed and dangerous” by authorities has been apprehended by local law enforcement.

Scott Walden, an agent with the 21stJudicial Drug Task Force, said he received information that Brandon Jones, 20, was in the Atmore area but planning to travel to Brewton over the weekend.

“We got behind a car matching Jones’ description going into Flomaton,” Walden said.
“I called county and we set up a road block on the four lane on (U.S. Highway) 31. He was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of robbery.”

Jones had been wanted by Atmore police after he and another man, 34-year-old Rodrico Dortch, of Atmore, allegedly robbed a woman at gun point as she sat in her car at the intersection of Carver Avenue and King Street Tuesday, Dec. 18.

K-9 units from Fountain Prison were dispatched to the area where they men had fled the scene on foot and a gun and clothing used in the robbery were found. According to Walden, Dortch was arrested the following day after he was identified by the victim using a photo line up.

Both men were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton. Dortch remains in jail on $50,000. Jones is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
