Lady Cougars move to 11-3 on season

The Lady Cougars of Escambia Academy moved to 11-3 on the year with a 53-36 win over Central Christian.

After leading 29-13 over the Lady Saints at halftime, the Lady Cougars went cold from the field and allowed Central to take a 7-2 run in the first three minutes of the third quarter to cut the lead to 11 at 31-20.

Grayson Emmons helped EA increase that lead to 47-28 in the fourth quarter. Emmons went seven-for-22 from the field and two-of-five from behind the arc in the win. She went eight-for-10 from the free-throw line and finished with 28 points.

Emmons also tacked on three assists, three steals and five rebounds. The next leading scorer was Peyton Snider with a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds. Lacie Flowers added nine points, four assists and four rebounds in the win.

Emmons leads the team in scoring for the year at 21.4 points per game, while Flowers is second with 12.2. Flowers leads the team  assists with 2.9 per contest.

Snider leads the team in rebounds at 10.4 per game. Snider averages close to eight points a game.

EA hosts Fort Dale Academy at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 and hosts Morgan Academy on Friday, Jan. 18 in two upcoming area contests.
