Louise Dread Johnson

Mrs. Louise Dread Johnson, 73, of Atmore, transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at her residence.

She was a native of Conecuh County and a longtime resident of Atmore. She was a 1956 graduate of Escambia County Training School. She had worked for over 26 years at the Sutton’s Restaurant (the Bus Station) and also worked for the Anchor Restaurant. Mrs. Johnson was a faithful member of the Antioch Baptist Church where she was assistant secretary of Sunday School, president of the Usher Board, and member of the choir.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Clyde Johnson; her parents , Johnny Sr. and Willie M. Dread; a sister, Marjorie Dread and a brother, Leroy Dread.

Those left to celebrate her life are: a step-daughter, Rose Johnson of Mississippi; three sisters , Dorothy Gordon and Betty Armstrong both of Atmore, and Mary (Leonard) Sessions of Foley; eight brothers, Sylvester (Agnes) Dread and Claude Dread of Daphne, Charlie Dread and James Dread both of Mobile, Clarence (Octavia) Dread of Fairhope, Johnny (Ella) Dread, Jr. of Moss Point, Miss, Arthur (Janice) Dread of New Orleans, La, and Benjamin (Doreen) Dread of Jackson.

Her celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church – Atmore (Freemanville) with the Rev. Willie Smith, Pastor, officiating. Inhumation will be in the Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC directing.
