During the Fall semester, the Warhawk baseball team saw 14 team members show excellence in their pursuit of their academics by achieving a 3.0 grade point average or above.

Leading the way with a 4.0 GPA for the semester were Andrew Tindell and Joey Scapecchi.

The other Warhawk players and managers who achieved a 3.0 GPA or better included:Tyler Henry, Alex Jones, Hunter Myrick, manager Dillon Bush of Brewton, former W.S. Neal Eagle Reid Johnson, Brandon Ray, Matthew Holmes, former T.R. Miller Tiger Caleb Dickey, Logan Hill, Flomaton’s Hunter Bonds, Tyler Howell and Michael Fox.

“I, as well as our other administration, faculty, and staff members are extremely proud of these young men as they strive to be their very best in the classroom as well as on the field,” JDCC head coach Darrell Blevins said.

Blevins and his Warhawk players will begin their 2013 season with a home game on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The game will be against Pensacola State College and will be a 9-inning game starting at 1 p.m.

The same held true for the JDCC Lady Warhawk volleyball and softball teams— two teams that see a total of 31 girls participate on at JDCC.
“I am pleased to announce that last semester the softball and volleyball teams had an overall GPA of 3.06,” JDCC head coach Misti Nims said. “Every year, one of the softball and volleyball teams’ goal is to have a team GPA of over a 3.0. In order to accomplish that goal, the entire team must embrace the term student-athlete.

They must be able to perform on and off the field in order to maintain their scholarship and eligibility to compete. With that said, there as so many demands and distractions on this group of young adults that sometimes attaining goals are hard to accomplish. This last semester, both teams accomplished their team GPA goal.”

The Lady Warhawks were led by Sarah Litteken and Shelby Weidenhamer who both earned a 4.0 GPA.

Others who earned above a 3.0 GPA are as followed: Paige Harwell, Kaitlyn Kenfield, Sara Beth Watkins, Kayla White, Kayla Baxter, Jennifer Fisher, Keira Dawsey, Tori Bracewell, Jessica Swindle, Breanna Hall, Dymon Coachman, Liz McCrary, and Amber Huskey.
Nims and her Lady Warhawk softball team will begin their 2013 season on Tuesday, Feb. 5 with a home game against Central Alabama Community College. Game time is set for 1 and 3 p.m. in Brewton.

The JDCC Warhawk basketball team saw four of their players have a 3.0 or greater GPA.

R.J. Bowers, Chris Oden, Adrian Rich and Anthony Bell all accomplished this feat for the Warhawks during the fall semester. Bowers made the Dean’s List.
