Lady Devils fall to Vigor 48-40

The Lady Blue Devils of Escambia County High School lost 48-40 to Vigor Saturday night in Atmore.

Sophomore guard Nicole Johnson led the team with nine points, while junior forward Keisha Williams and senior guard Jasmine Ireland had seven points each.

ECHS was able to cut the lead to five after scoring four straight points at the start of the third quarter. Vigor was able to kill the Lady Blue Devils’ momentum by scoring after a missed foul shot. ECHS turned the ball over and Vigor went up by nine in the third quarter.

Senior forward Keria Brown missed two foul shots and Vigor hit a basket to go up 11 with 4:23 left in the third.

Vigor went on a 6-0 run to extend the lead to 43-33 with 3:30 left in the game. A Johnson basket brought the game within four points with less than a minute left, but two straight buckets put the game away for Vigor.

The Lady Blue Devils travel take On Baldwin County High School Friday in Bay Minette.
