The Atmore Christian School Rams won their fifth game of the year Friday night by beating Cedar Lake 73-36 in Biloxi, Miss.

“We needed a game where we had a chance to execute well and we did,” said Coach Tim Battles.

William Swartzendruber and Myles Maher led the team with 15 points each. Christian Scott scored 14 and Malik Jones had 11.
Battles said this was the first game the Rams had played since installing a new offense over the holiday break.

“We were able to work at length with it,” he said. “When we did run it it looked good and we got good shots. The design of the offense was a lot of screening and a lot of passing.”

The Rams shot 42 percent from the field for the game, Battles said.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams were able to run a half-court trap and played it well against Cedar Lake, Battles said.

“We made them play man and that’s where they scored the bulk of their points,” he said. “I want us to get better at man defense.

“We were up by 20 or 21 in the first half and went in to cruise control and it didn’t go so well,” Battles said. “It was a good game to come back from a long break.”

The win moves the Rams to 5-11 on the season.
