An Atmore woman was arrested Tuesday on drug charges after she sent a text message to a friend already in custody.
According to the arrest report, Angelique Benea Clark, 30, of the 300 block of Boone Lane was arrested by Escambia County (Fla.) sheriff’s deputies for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia after she texted a friend to ask for a ride.
According to the report, the friend, Daniel Bailey, was being questioned by deputies at a Cantonment convenience store when he told authorities that Clark was wanted by police in Alabama. It was later confirmed she was not wanted in Alabama. Deputies made contact with Clark, who was walking toward the store on Muscogee Road, near McQueen Road. Clark agreed to be searched, the report stated.
During the search, deputies found a glass pipe with white residue and two baggies of what was suspected to be methamphetamine, the report stated.
Clark was charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the Escambia County jail, where she remained as of Friday afternoon on $5,000 bond. Bailey was also arrested on unrelated charges.
