Elmer Marvin King III

Elmer Marvin King III passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at age 76.  He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Linda Patience King, his son, Myles Marvin King and wife Tina, grandchildren, Tom and Elizabeth of Spanish Fort, sister, Martha Blondheim (Herb), stepchildren, Michael Patience and Monica Burk, and her children, Aaron and Devin.

Mr. King, a resident of Daphne, Alabama was born in Tallahassee, Fla. on June 8, 1936.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Marvin King Jr. and Virginia Hutcheson King.  He grew up in Atmore and attended Auburn University, graduating in 1958.  After serving in the Air National Guard, he served as a national advisor for his college fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon.  Marvin returned to Atmore to work at the Atmore Equipment Company, an International Harvester with his father.  Years later, Marvin assumed ownership of the King Pontiac Buick automobile dealership from which he later retired.  In 1990, he moved to Daphne and was a member of Eastern Shore Baptist Church.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Stallworth King. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of travel, and kindness to others.

Funeral Services were held Monday from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Services

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Shore Baptist Church Missions, P.O. Box 128, Daphne, Alabama.
