Lady Cougars fall in state Elite 8

With a 41-36 loss, the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars fell Friday to Hooper Academy in the Alabama Independent Schools Association Elite 8.

Coach David Walker said the team played well, but couldn’t make shots, going 15-49 from the field and 0-8 from behind the three-point line.

“We couldn’t hit a shot,” Walker said. “We did a lot of good things we just couldn’t shoot.”

EA attempted only nine foul shots, connecting on four, while Hooper attempted 23 foul shots and went 13-23 from the field.

The Lady Cougars had 16 turnovers in the loss.

Lacie Flowers led the team with 11 points, while Peyton Snider added eight, Sydney McGhee added seven and Grayson Emmons added six.
Snider led the team in rebounds with 11.

Walker said EA took an early lead on three quick baskets from Flowers, but Hooper was able to slow them down.
