There were no injuries when a Steadham Logging truck overturned today in Atmore.

What was meant to be simple stop for coffee turned into a near-miss situation Friday afternoon when a log truck overturned on Main Street, spilling its heavy load into the parking lot of Arby’s fast food restaurant.

Officers on the scene said the driver of the Steadham Logging truck, John William Stacey of Frisco City, told them his rig’s brakes went out as he attempted to make the turn off Main Street, between Arby’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

“He was traveling south on Main Street,” APD Officer Arthur Odom said. “He said his brakes went out and a witness told us speed wasn’t part of it.”

Although the load of heavy logs spilled almost directly into the exit of the Arby’s drive through lane, no one was injured and Stacey himself walked away unharmed.
