The Northview High School Lady Chiefs moved to 7-0 on the season with a 4-3 win Friday against Baker.

While coach Amy Holland said she was excited about the start, she didn’t really want to talk about it, especially with big games still remaining on the district schedule.

“It has been a good start,” she said. “The girls have really come together as a team.”

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, NHS fell down 2-1before scoring three runs and holding Baker scoreless for the final three innings of the ball game, she said.

“They all came together and beared down,” Holland said.

Holland said the team won despite poor pitching and hitting and a “couple of errors that cost us some runs.”

“We didn’t play well,” she said.

Holland said she’s happy with the solid start, but added that the team is only halfway through the season and still has some “tough games” ahead in district play.

The Lady Chiefs took on rival Jay Tuesday evening, but results weren’t available as of press time.
