The Atmore Christian School Lady Rams lost 8-2 to Central Christian Thursday in Robertsdale.

Pitcher Kerrie Hillburn reached first base on an error and Charity Hall was walked to get things started for the Lady Rams in the top of the second inning.

The runners advanced into scoring position on a passed ball and Hillburn scored on a groundout by Bailey Spann. Hall later scored on a passed ball that gave ACS a 2-1 lead.

The Lady Rams maintained that advantage until the bottom of the fourth inning when Central was able to score five runs to take a 6-2 advantage.

“They strung a few hits together and got a couple of walks,” ACS coach Tim Battles said. “They batted around that inning.”

Central added two insurance runs in the next inning to secure the victory.

“We actually didn’t play badly,” Battles said. “Central is a solid team and they don’t do things to hurt themselves.”

Battles said, while the team “did pretty well in the field,” hitting was a weak spot as one player, Kaylynn Swartzendruber, had three of the team’s four hits. She went three-for-four from the plate and also reached base on an error, meaning she got on all four times.

Spann got the team’s other hit, going one-for-three with an RBI.

The Lady Rams’ next game is Monday at East Hill Academy.
