Boys, Girls State reps announced

Students from local high schools chosen to represent the Atmore area at this year’s Boys and Girls State conferences in Tuscaloosa were introduced to the public Monday during the Atmore City Council’s regular meeting.

American Legion Post 90 member Noah McBride announced this year’s Boys State representatives, including: Casey Jackson, Escambia Academy; Donald Baity, Northview; Brett Helton, Escambia Academy; Davontae Walker, Escambia County High School; Cameron Murphy, Escambia Academy; Tucker Boatwright, Escambia Academy; Desmond Williams, Escambia County High School.

Girls State representatives, announced by Women’s Auxiliary member Linda Gates, include: Lacey Flowers, Escambia Academy; Anna Nichols, Escambia County High School; Mariah Albritton, Northview.

This year’s group will attend a week-long conference at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa June 9-14, where they will learn about the inner workings of government from the local to national level.
