Poarch Creek softball wins first four

The 8U Poarch Creek have started undefeated with four blowout wins this season.

The team beat the Poarch Angels 18-7, NWE 10-1 and 14-1 and the Poarch Marlins 9-0.

In their first game played on April 23, Poarch Creek got runs by right fielder Braylee Alverson, Ruthie Huskey, Jalia Lassiter, Payton Gilchrist, Alexis Barnhill and McKenna Pettis in the top of the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.

The Angels also mustered five runs to tie the game in the bottom of the first.

Poarch Creek batters were retired in order in the top of the second to make way for the bottom half of the inning. The Angels were retired in order to end the second.

Huskey, Lassiter, Gilchrist, Barnhill and Leah Rolin each scored a run in the top of the third to put Poarch Creek up 10-5.

The Angels were able to answer with only one run in the bottom half of the inning to cut into Poarch Creek’s lead at 10-6.

The fourth inning saw Alverson, Huskey, Peyton Rolin, Brooke X and Leah Rolin all score to give Poarch Creek a 15-6 lead. The Angels were held scoreless in the inning.

Pettis, Destiny Rolin and Peyton Rolin scored runs in the top of the fifth to give Poarch Creek an 18-6 lead. The Angels scored the final run of the game to make it 18-7.

Alverson went three-for-four with two runs scored in the win. Huskey went three-for-four with three runs scored. Lassiter went three-for-four with two runs scored. Gilchrist went two-for-three with two runs scored.

Barnhill went two-for-three with two runs scored. Pettis went two-for-three with one run scored. Peyton Rolin went two-for-three with two runs scored, X went two-for-three with one run scored and Leah Rolin went two-for-three with two runs scored.

In action from April 25, Poarch Creek defeated NWE 10-1.

Huskey, Lassiter, Gilchrist, Barnhill and Pettis all scored in the top of the first inning for a 5-0 lead. NWE was unable to score in the bottom half of the inning.
Alverson and Huskey added to the total with a run each in the top of the second to give Poarch Creek a 7-0 lead. NWE was held scoreless.

Neither team could score in the third inning, but Poarch Creek was able to get a run across in the top of the fourth when Peyton Rolin plated. NWE scored their lone run in the fourth.

Poarch Creek added insurance runs with Gilchrist and Pettis crossing the plate to take the 10-1 victory.

Poarch Creek defeated NWE again Monday with 14-1 win.

Huskey, Lassiter, Gilchrist, Pettis, Barnhill and Destiny Rolin all scored runs in the win.
