The son of Byron and Tricia Vaughan said he can’t imagine his life without baseball.

“I’ve been playing since I was 5 years old,” he said. “I don’t know what I’m going to do when I can’t play baseball.”

Kevin Vaughan said Wallace State coaches have told him he could play outfield and pitch next season, but he’s not sure about playing time yet. It largely depends on how he does when he gets to campus this fall.

“If I play well in the fall, I’ll play in the spring,” he said.

In the meantime he hopes to workout with the Northview baseball team and former coach Martin Lister this summer as well as play on a summer team with another goal on his mind.

“I want to play well enough to move on to a four-year school and get a degree,” he said.

Tricia Vaughan said she was excited and proud to watch her son sign a full scholarship to college.

“He has always played baseball his entire life,” she said. “He was really hoping to get a baseball scholarship.”
