City Council okays grass, weed nuisance abatements

The Atmore City Council adopted Resolution 2013-11 Monday during their regular meeting, allowing the abatement of grass and weed nuisances on six properties within the Atmore city limits.

Code Enforcement Officer Greg Vaughn said the most recent list originally included 55 properties. Of those properties, 36 received a formal notice following a resolution passed May 13. Of those 36, Vaughn said only nine were listed on a final resolution and only six are left to be addressed by the city.

Properties to be abated by the City of Atmore include: 154 Bullard Street; 156 Bullard Street; 0 Hollis Street; 116 Maple Drive; 1129 S. Presley Street; 114 Short Street.

Abatement of nuisances on these properties will be abated at cost to the property owners, city officials said.
