A public meeting will be held Monday by the City of Atmore in order to discuss applications to the state of Alabama for a Community Development Block Grant.

According to Atmore Mayor Jim Staff, the meeting will be held in order to inform the general public bout the CDBG program, including grant amounts that are available to benefit low and moderate-income persons, as well as the type of activities that are eligible for funding assistance.

Staff said the Atmore City Council will also be looking to solicit the views and proposals of citizens concerning community development and housing needs in Atmore and will discuss other CDBG activities being considered.

“Citizens will be afforded an opportunity to express their views, ideas and proposals concerning the above items at this meeting,” Staff said. “All ideas and proposals presented will be considered by local officials during the planning and project development phase of any CDBG application submitted by the city.”

Staff said if any persons with disabilities require special accommodations in order to attend the meeting, they should notify City Clerk Becca Smith at (251) 368-2253.

Monday’s public hearing will take place at 1 p.m. in the City Council chambers at Atmore City Hall.
