An Atmore man was arrested Tuesday after an animal control call brought officers to his home where he was growing a single marijuana plant in a bucket, Atmore police said.

Scott Walden, an officer with the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force, said Anthony Rudolph, 52, was taken into custody after he attempted to make off with the plant spotted by officer Mary McNew, who was assisting on an animal control call at the home on 403 E. Craig St.

“Officer McNew spotted the plant,” Walden said. “The subject tried to grab the plant and run, but she caught up to him.”

Rudolph was charged with possession of marijuana with additional charges possibly pending, Walden said.

Walden said Rudolph told police the plant was for personal use only.
