Tourney planned to help student fight cancer diagnosis

A double-elimination softball tournament to benefit Northview student Trevor Mathis is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10 at Showalter Park in Century.

The tournament, organized by family friends costs $150 per team to enter with proceeds going to help defray the costs of medical bills for the Mathis family.

In addition a Facebook page has been setup to document Trevor’s progress called “Fight to Win” DTM.

ECHS plans play date with Clarke County

The Escambia County High School Blue Devils’s basketball team will take on Clarke County today in their final play date of the summer.

Teams are allowed three play dates each summer, per Alabama High School Athletic Association rules, but ECHS had a play date earlier in the summer cancelled leaving the door open for this, their third and final one at home.

The game tips with the junior varsity at 4 p.m. and varsity to follow.
