Lily Townson sets up a kill in Northview’s win over Holmes County.

The Northview Lady Chiefs swept a home match against Holmes County High School on Monday, to take their first district match by the score of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-5.

Northview surrendered the first point to Holmes County on an ace before scoring five straight points before breaking serve.

Holmes County later scored two straight points to make the score 8-4. Northview then took a 10-4 lead and an 18-11 lead before scoring seven of the final eight points to take the 25-12 victory.

Game two went back and forth in the beginning with the Lady Chiefs taking an early 4-3 lead before Holmes County tied it at four.

An error gave Northview a 5-4 lead and the momentum. Northview’s scoring exploded, as the team took a 10-5 lead and later increased it to 13-7 before the Lady Chiefs’ service was broken.

Holmes County cut the lead to 13-9 and as close as 14-11 before a broken serve allowed Northview to score six straight points. Northview had its serve broken and Holmes County cut the lead to 20-12.

Northview then scored three straight points to take a 23-12 lead. With the score at 24-15, Northview senior Lana Clayton drilled the ball for the final point. Northview won, 25-15.

Clayton finished with two aces, four kills and three assists. Kyndall Hall scored seven aces, four kills and three assists, while Lily Townson scored four aces, one kill and 16 assists.

The Lady Chiefs play their first road match with junior varsity starting at 4:30 p.m. and varsity following on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Baker, Fla.
