NWE splits games at Uriah

Jaxon Singleton carries the ball for the NWE Eagles. The teams split games with Uriah on Saturday in Uriah. The freshman Eagles lost 39-33, but the sophomores won 47-12 and the juniors won 62-0 against the Bulldogs. The senior Eagles also shut out the Bulldogs 44-0 Saturday.

The Northwest Escambia Eagles split games Saturday at Uriah.

The freshman team lost 39-33, but the sophomores won 47-12. The offensive onslaught continued with a 62-0 win for the junior team.

Jaheem Durant scored on the first play of the game for the junior team. Jaden Cunningham scored two touchdowns and an extra point.

Jayden Jackson scored two touchdowns, one of which came after he stripped the ball from a Uriah runner. He also had an extra point.

Michael Merchant and Logan Bryan scored a touchdown each for the juniors. Jacob Lee scored two touchdowns.

Uriah couldn’t convert a third down the entire game and were held to negative yardage thanks to the Eagle defense.

The seniors won in a 44-0 shutout. Trent Kite scored a touchdown, while Seth Killam recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. Killam also threw for a touchdown.

Keeton Solmonson ran in a touchdown, and Tanner Deese scored two touchdowns. Cameron Cloud completed a pass to Jason Fayard for a touchdown.

NWE will host its first home game of the season against Poarch on Saturday. The freshmen will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the sophomores at 11:30, the juniors at 1:30 p.m. and the seniors at 3.
