PCI collection day not to include medicines

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians is sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to noon at the PCI fire station on Jack Springs Road.

The following items will be accepted: Paints, automobile batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, household cleaners, household chemicals, pesticides, flammables, corrosives, other hazardous household products, fluorescent bulbs, and electronic wastes (computers, monitors, printers, scanners, Palm accessories, power supplies, battery backups, rechargeable batteries, cables, toner/ink cartridges, hard drives, CD roms, speakers, VCRs, DVD players, stereo equipment, TVs, game consoles, digital cameras, any audio or video equipment, networking equipment, tape drives, test equipment, fax machines, keyboards, voice/tape recorders, radios, Walkman products, calculators, cellular phones, and phone accessories).

Prohibited items are as follows: infectious and medical wastes, biological and radioactive materials, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and explosives.
