The Escambia County High School Blue Devils suffered another loss Friday, this time a 50-8 loss at the hands of the Thomasville Tigers.

The loss moves the Blue Devils to 0-6 on the year as they travel this week to Monroe County.

“You have to give credit to Thomasville,” coach Lev Holly said.

The lone touchdown for ECHS came on a run by Gaetyn Thames in the fourth quarter.

Holly said his team moved the ball all night, but couldn’t close drives, or capitalize on opportunities.

“Thames had a good night, Devonte Williams had a good night and quarterback Chris (Johnson) had an decent night,” Holly said.

ECHS gave up four interceptions in the game, which hurt the Blue Devils, because Thomasville turned the mistakes into touchdowns.

“Anytime you play a good football team you can’t turn the ball over, ever,” Holly said.

This week will be all about correcting mistakes, he added.

“We have to take it one game at a time,” Holly said. “We’ll be back at the drawing board Sunday.”

The Blue Devils travel to Monroe County on Friday before coming back home on Friday, Oct. 18, for a homecoming game against Hillcrest-Evergreen.
