A Brewton woman — a teacher at the Escambia Career Readiness Center — was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies said.

Norma Jean Hammac Dillashaw, 48, of 155 North Fork Road in Brewton, was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department.

Dillashaw is a teacher at the Escambia Career Readiness Center, formerly the Escambia-Brewton Vocational Center.

Superintendent Randall Little said he could not comment while the case is ongoing, but he said Dillashaw has been placed on administrative leave.

Dillashaw was not arrested on campus; she apparently turned herself in on the charges.

The case is still under investigation, sheriff’s officials said.
