The Escambia County Blue Devils’ basketball team quashed a comeback attempt by the Baldwin County Tigers on Saturday night, and improved to 5-2 on the year after a 66-58 win.

ECHS outscored the Tigers 31-16 in the first half of the game in Atmore. BCHS stormed back after halftime. The Tigers scored 42 points in the second half, while the Blue Devils scored 35.

Desmond Williams led the Blue Devils in scoring with 21 points, while Jarvis Knight added 18 and Josh Hill scored 10 in the win.

Melik McMillan grabbed nine rebounds and added nine points, while Williams also grabbed nine boards. Anthony Fountain grabbed five rebounds. Jerome Webster and McMillan had two steals each.

Williams now leads the team with 86 points in four games this season, giving him an average of 22 points a game. McMillan is also averaging in double figures for points with 11 a game.

Williams is also averaging 11 rebounds per game. That is second only to McMillan, who averages 12. Williams also leads the team with two blocks per game. Webster leads the team with an average of three assists and two steals per game.

ECHS played in the Robertsdale Thanksgiving Tournament at Robertsdale High School this week. The Blue Devils’ first game next month will be at home against Monroe County on Friday, Dec. 6, starting at 4:30 p.m.
