James Collins Jr., 58, of Queens, N.Y., formerly of Atmore, died on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, in Queens.

He was a native of Atmore, and a graduate of Escambia County High School in 1973. He had lived in New York for more than 25 years and worked as a metropolitan bus driver.

His parents, Bessie McNeal Collins and James Collins Sr., and a brother, Horace Collins, preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his life and memories are his wife, Doris McNeal of Queens, N.Y.; one daughter, Justina Ankum of Georgia; four sons, Jamel Collins of Queens, N.Y., Scottie Dixon and Chubby McKenzie, both of Atmore, and Monta Frye of Virginia; one sister, Pinkie McNeal of Atmore; two brothers, Calvin McNeal and Chuck McNeal of Atmore; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church in Perdido, with the Rev. Humphrey Shuford, pastor, officiating. Inhumation will be in the Mt. Shiloh Cemetery in Nokomis. His body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service at the church and public walk-in viewing will be Friday from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
