Nominations open for chamber awardsPublished 10:24am Friday, January 10, 2014
The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s selection committee is currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Citizen of the Year and for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The deadline to submit nominations is Thursday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m.
The Citizen of the Year award is designed to recognize an individual’s outstanding achievements and/or contributions to the community. Last year’s recipient was Dr. Jonathan Yoder.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, established by the chamber in 1996, is meant to recognize citizens whose contributions over a lifetime have helped to positively shape their community. This award is presented at the discretion of the committee and is not necessarily given annually. The last recipient was the late Mary Joyner Grissett, who received the award posthumously in 2011.
These two awards will be presented at the 68th annual chamber meeting, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20, at 6:30 p.m. This year’s event will be held at The Club, located at 1927 State Highway 21.
Nominations should be submitted in letter form to the chamber office, either by mail or in person at 501 S. Pensacola Ave., Suite A, Atmore AL 36502.
Nominations can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, but the letter should still be attached as a separate document. Please keep nomination letters to two pages or fewer.
