The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s selection committee is currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Citizen of the Year and for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The deadline to submit nominations is Thursday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m.

The Citizen of the Year award is designed to recognize an individual’s outstanding achievements and/or contributions to the community. Last year’s recipient was Dr. Jonathan Yoder.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, established by the chamber in 1996, is meant to recognize citizens whose contributions over a lifetime have helped to positively shape their community. This award is presented at the discretion of the committee and is not necessarily given annually. The last recipient was the late Mary Joyner Grissett, who received the award posthumously in 2011.
