The Escambia County High School baseball and softball teams will each be participating in tournaments in eastern Escambia County this coming weekend.
The Blue Devils baseball team will play in the Escambia County baseball tournament, at T.R. Miller High School in Brewton.
The Lady Devils softball team will be in the T.R. Miller Invitational on Friday and Saturday, in Brewton at the YMCA Sports Park. A total of eight teams will play in that tournament.
County baseball tourney starts Thursday
The county baseball tournament will begin Thursday, with ECHS and host T.R. Miller playing at 4 p.m., followed by W.S. Neal and Flomaton at 6:30 p.m. On Friday, ECHS and W.S. Neal will play at 4 p.m., and T.R. Miller and Flomaton will play at 6:30 p.m.
The tournament will continue Saturday with ECHS and Flomaton facing off at 11 a.m., followed by T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal at 1:30 p.m. W.S. Neal won last year’s county tournament, which was held in Flomaton.
Miller Invitational features 8 softball teams
The T.R. Miller Invitational will feature a pool play format to determine playoff seeding. ECHS will be in pool B, along with W.S. Neal, J.U. Blacksher and Northview. Pool A will contain T.R. Miller, Hillcrest-Evergreen, McGill-Toolen and Davidson.
ECHS will play its pool play games on Field A at the YMCA Sports Park. The Lady Devils will face W.S. Neal on Friday at 4 p.m., and then play Northview later that night at approximately 7:45 p.m.
ECHS will play J.U. Blacksher on Saturday at 10:15 a.m., to close out its pool play.
The single-elimination tournament will begin at noon. Semifinal games are set for 2:30 p.m., and the championship game will be at 4 p.m.
Trophies will be presented to the first and second-place teams at the conclusion of the tournament.
