Ewell Benjamin Baxley

Ewell Benjamin Baxley, 77, of Atmore, passed away Thursday March 13, 2014, in Bay Minette.

He was a retired superintendent with the Oil Field, born in Coffee Springs on Aug. 23, 1936, to the late Henry and Zella Mae Danford Baxley. He also was an avid fisherman.

Three brothers, John J. Baxley, Leonard Baxley and Julian Baxley, preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret Green Baxley of Atmore; children, James (Gloria) Long of Laredo, Texas, Donald (Maxine) Long of Fort Worth, Texas, Sarah Long of Atmore, Yurtha Riojas of Asherton, Texas, Ronnie (Elia) Long of Laredo, Texas, David (Estela) Cardwell of McAllen, Texas, Deborah (Eric) Lugad of Missouri, Robert (Juanita) Cardwell of Milton, Fla., Leslie (Leslie) Long of Columbia, S.C., Kathy (Larry) Goings of Milton, Fla., Richard (Eva) Long of Austin, Texas and Sandra Robins of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Judy Long of Washington; sister, Audrey Ruth Bryan of Paxton, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Ludene Baxley of Coffee Springs and Evon Nowling of Jay, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Waylon Quinley officiating. Interment followed in Spears Cemetery in East Brewton.

The family received friends from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time Monday March 17, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of all arrangements.
