U.S. Marshals arrest Atmore murder suspectPublished 1:27pm Tuesday, March 25, 2014
An Atmore man wanted for murder was arrested Tuesday morning by the U.S. Marshals Regional Task Force in Escambia County, Fla.
Kendrell “Dick” McCants, 29, is charged with the murder of 50-year-old Marvin D. Norman of Atmore.
According to officials with the U.S. Marshals Regional Task Force, McCants was arrested Tuesday for failure to appear charges, in connection with the April 28, 2013, murder.
A failure to appear warrant was issued for McCants’ arrest in February, after he failed to appear at a scheduled court appearance in Brewton.
McCants is accused of physically assaulting Norman on Sunday, April 28, 2013, near a residence on Brooks Lane. Norman was taken by Lifeflight from Atmore Community Hospital to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, where he died from his injuries.
McCants turned himself in to officers at the Atmore Police Department 24 hours later.
