Southeastern Indian Festival cancels Friday events

The Southeastern Indian Festival, which was scheduled to open Friday, April 4, at 6 p.m. at the Poarch Creek Indian Pow Wow Grounds, will not open until Saturday.

All events for Friday have been canceled due to rainy weather. The festival is still scheduled to be open as planned Saturday. The festival will open at 10 a.m. and remain open until 8 p.m. In addition, the museum gift shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is free admission to all festival events.

The festival is designed to teach visitors about Southeastern Indian culture through a number of exhibits and demonstrations. Among the planned events include song and dance, storytelling, arts and crafts demonstrations, a stickball game and authentic Indian foods.

The Pow Wow Grounds are located at 5811 Jack Springs Road, in Atmore.
