The caller told the FPD that a male had been stabbed. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found Likely outside the residence where the stabbing had taken place. Davis said Likely was covered in blood, and was taken into custody.

The 41-year-old victim appeared to have multiple chest wounds, and was transported by ambulance from the scene. The victim was later transported by AirHeart helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Davis said that officers later determined that Likely was a former girlfriend of the victim, and broke into his residence through a window before stabbing him. During the altercation, the victim was able to reach a neighbor’s residence for help, Davis said.

Davis said the FPD appreciates the assistance of Flomaton Fire and Rescue and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for helping with Thursday’s stabbing incident.
