Evergreen woman charged in Flomaton stabbingPublished 4:24pm Friday, April 11, 2014
An Evergreen woman was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed her former boyfriend in Flomaton.
According to a press release from Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis, Ruby Faye Likely, 45, of Evergreen, is also facing a charge of burglary in the first degree. She was transported to the Escambia County Jail in Brewton.
Davis said that the Flomaton Police Department received a 911 call from a residence on Wilkerson Street in Flomaton, at approximately 10:16 p.m. Thursday night.
The caller told the FPD that a male had been stabbed. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found Likely outside the residence where the stabbing had taken place. Davis said Likely was covered in blood, and was taken into custody.
The 41-year-old victim appeared to have multiple chest wounds, and was transported by ambulance from the scene. The victim was later transported by AirHeart helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Davis said that officers later determined that Likely was a former girlfriend of the victim, and broke into his residence through a window before stabbing him. During the altercation, the victim was able to reach a neighbor’s residence for help, Davis said.
Davis said the FPD appreciates the assistance of Flomaton Fire and Rescue and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for helping with Thursday’s stabbing incident.
