Walmart has begun the process of hiring approximately 100 employees to work at the new store slated to open in Atmore in July.

A temporary hiring center has opened at 101 N. Main St. Applications will be accepted 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Interested applicants may also apply online at careers.walmart.com.

“We’re excited to bring the new store to Atmore, along with new jobs that oftentimes lead to great career opportunities,” said Atmore store manager Joe Ferguson.

Through Walmart’s Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months. Interested veterans can find out more about this program by visiting only at www.walmartcareerswithamission.com.

Walmart officials said that most of the new employees will begin working in June, to help prepare the store for its grand opening.
