Atmore police investigating stabbing

Atmore police are currently investigating a fight that led to stabbing injuries and hospital visits for two men Saturday.

According to information from the Atmore Police Department, officers responded Saturday to reports of a fight at North Main Trailer Park, located at 1106 N. Main St. in Atmore.

Responding officers found two males in the trailer park who had been involved in an altercation. Ronnie Thomas, 50, of Atmore, reportedly had a cut on his face and a stabbing wound in his left chest. Willie Banks, 45, of Frisco City, had an amputated finger, according to reports.

Both Thomas and Banks were transported to Atmore Community Hospital by Atmore Ambulance. Thomas was later life flighted to USA Hospital in Mobile, where he was treated and later released. Banks was released and treated with no other injuries.

Witnesses reportedly told APD officers that the two men were arguing and a fight ensued, leading to the stabbing.
