Contraband arrests made

Two Mobile residents were recently sent to jail, charged with throwing contraband over the fence at Atmore’s Holman Prison.

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said Tuesday that the incident occurred Sun., June 15, when deputies were called to assist the Atmore Police Department and Poarch Tribal Police.

“It was reported that a car, occupied by a female, had stopped and allegedly two male suspects fled on foot after throwing the contraband over the fence,” Lambert said.

A perimeter was established and a prison tracking team was called to the scene. A short time later, two suspects were apprehended.

“What we found out was that it was only one male subject and one female,” Lambert said.

Arrested were Zandiaus Fagin, 18, for promoting prison contraband II, and Trimeka Ellis, 37, for two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Fagin was released on a $10,000 bond, while Ellis was released on a $5,000 bond.
